Welcome to Yutaka Kono.com! Welcome freshmen! This year, we added 5 euphonium and 6 tuba players to TAMUK Tuba Euphonium Studio Roster, and the studio has grown to total of 24 students. We have an exciting semester for the studio, including two guest artists and a senior recital.
For more information please contact Dr. Kono --- Round up on 2007-2008 season: Internationally renowned tuba quartet, Sotto Voce presented a master class and a recital on TAMUK campus. J.J. Rodriguez played with the Kingsville Symphony Orchestra. Pieces include: Respighi Pines of Rome, Dvorak Symphony No. 8 and Carnival Overture, and Holst Jupiter. Dr. Kono's transcription of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata 1st movement for flute trio is available from Sibeliusmusic.com, as well as Gesualdo's Io tacerò for brass quintet. Dr. Kono made a debut as an orchestra conductor with the Kingsville Symphony Orchestra's chamber music concert in February. Euphoniumist Noé Cepeda and tubist Joe Rodriguez had very sucessful senior recitals. --- December 17th, 2006. TAMU-K Tuba Euphonium Ensemble has been invited to perform at Regional Tuba Euphonium Conference in Austin! Program to be announced at later date. December 17th, 2006. Dr. Kono has been invited to perform at Regional Tuba Euphonium Conference. Program to include new works by Graham Reynolds and P. Kellach Waddle. December 17th, 2006. Dr. Kono has been selected to present a clinic at TMEA. August 24th, 2006. CONGRATULATIONS to TAMU-K Tuba Euphonium Ensemble for the very fine performance at the International Tuba Euphonium Conference in Denver Colorado! Also, CONGRATULATIONS to Zach Graff, a former student of Dr. Kono from Round Rock, TX for winning the first place in the student division of Leonard Falcone International Tuba Euphonium Competition! I would like to WELCOME new tuba euphonium students at TAMU-K. These students are some of the best students from South Texas area, and we are very glad that they joined our Tuba Euphonium Studio. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! to Noe Cepeda and Joe Villarreal, euphonium students from Texas A&M University-Kingsville, Yutaka Kono Studio for advancing to the Semi-Final Round of International Tuba Euphonium Conference Competition. Noe will compete in Rich Matteson Jazz Tuba/Euphonium, and Joe will compete in Euphonium Artist Division. Good luck to both of you! Also, I just found out that two of Dr. Kono's former students from Austin area advanced to Semi-Finals of Falcone Competition in Student Division. CONGRATULATIONS to Lyndsey Hoh and Zach Graff! Each day, we are adding more people to the forum. If you haven't, please join and start a discussion. If you have an idea to make the site better, please let me know. I also added a new section "Sheet Music." If you have sheet music in the public domain or own a copyright and want to share, please post it there. April 5th, 2006. I added a new section: Learning Resources. I will be adding more articles, exercises and music that will help you learn and teach tuba and euphonium. April 5th, 2006.
